Professor Jozsef Denes, honorary president of the Hungarian Orthodontic Society, died in May

Professor Jozsef Denes of Budapest, Hungary, died May 22, 1999.

Professor Denes was the president of the Hungarian Association of Orthodontics and Pedodontics, and the honorary president of the Hungarian Orthodontic Society, an affiliated organization of the WFO. A long-time educator and practitioner, Professor Denes also served as professor and chair of the Department of Orthodontics and Pedodontics at the Semmelweis University in Budapest for 19 years. He was the dean of the Faculty of Dentistry from 1986 to 1992. During his academic career, he received many distinctions and awards. His main area of research was related to the principles and methodology for studying normal and abnormal craniofacial function.

Professor Denes, a kind, gentle, compassionate personality, was a pioneer in the education of all Hungarian orthodontists. His moral, ethical and professional standards continue to guide dedicated colleagues and project a positive influence throughout Hungary and elsewhere.
