Associazione Specialisti Italiani Ortodonzia and the Jordanian Orthodontic Society join the WFO

The Associazione Specialisti Italiani Ortodonzia (ASIO) and the Jordanian Orthodontic Society (JOS) have joined the WFO as affiliated organizations. Eighty-one affiliated organizations now belong to the WFO.

The ASIO aims to protect and promote the dental profession, as well as to safeguard and improve the image of orthodontists. The organization, which is composed of Italian orthodontists, defines the quality standards and verifies the professional credentials of its members. The ASIO also strives to work with collateral professional and specialist organizations in Italy and abroad.

The JOS, which is composed of Jordanian orthodontists, fosters the advancement of the orthodontic specialty and cooperates with the Jordanian Health and Educational Institutes to improve the current methods of prevention and treatment of dentofacial anomalies. The JOS also strives to develop orthodontic training programs for dentists who are willing to study and seek improvement in their orthodontic knowledge and practice. It also shares information with other orthodontic societies and organizations, and publishes an orthodontic journal for its members.

"The growth of the WFO during the past five years has been impressive," said Dr. William DeKock, president of the WFO. "The goal of the WFO is not to become the organization of import, but to help the affiliated national organizations support their members and patients. As the national organizations grow, the WFO can help with the exchange of information. This growing network of resources has helped affiliated organizations solve problems without reinventing the wheel."
