![]() Land of Smiles to welcome orthodontists from around the world in March 2008 Thai Association of Orthodontists to host 6th Asian Pacific Orthodontic Conference in Bangkok This coming March will mark the6th Asian Pacific Orthodontic Conference (APOC). The Thai Association of Orthodontists, the host of the conference, will welcome more than 500 orthodontists to the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok March 28-30. “Thailand is known as one of the best tourist destinations in the world, and the Thais have a good reputation inhospitality,” said Dr. Somchai Satravaha, chair of the 6th APOC organizing committee and president of the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society. “This conference’s theme is ‘Embracing World Orthodontics in the Land of Smiles.’ The name expresses our intention.” Although the early-bird registration date has passed, orthodontists may still register through February 14, 2008. To register and learn more about the conference, go to www.apoc2008.com. “The 6th APOC organizing committee is committed and has been trying very hard to make the 6th APOC a memorable conference, as well as the experience of the lifetime for all participants,” Dr. Satravaha said. “We have 46 renowned invited speakers from all parts of the world, around 56 oral presentations and 130 poster presentations. We have carefully prepared the Grand Opening Ceremony, the Closing Ceremony and the tour programs. Many leading manufacturers of orthodontic products will display their products at the 6th APOC.” The speakers will cover a broad range of topics, including orthodontic root resorption, growth modification in clinical orthodontics, oral appliance therapy in obstructive sleep apnea, orthognathic surgery, single-tooth implants, micro implants, lingual orthodontics and functional appliance therapy. The Grand Opening Ceremony on Friday, March 28 will herald the beginning of the conference. Held in the Shangri-La Hotel’s Grand Ballroom, the ceremony will be followed by a poolside cocktail reception. The Closing Ceremony and Exotic Farewell Party on Sunday, March 30 will feature a performance of “Siam Niramit,”one of the world’s largest stage productions. This world-class performance showcases Thailand’s arts and cultural heritage and features 150 performers and as many as 500costumes.
